Hey Filipinos! What happened to our country? It seems that we are destined to carry the cross of hardship and misery. Are we a cursed nation? Right now we are being pulled into a dark and deep hole of poverty, and if we don’t do something now it would be late for us to do anything tomorrow.
Prices are rising so fast. In fact, it rises in such a high rate that it is difficult for us to pace up. Imagine, gasoline alone went up three times in just two months, yet our income remains the same. The other disappointing news – civil wedding would expect to cost 2,000 from its previous value of 300 (the value I posted in here is what I heard from the news. I encourage you to do your own research about it to get the accurate facts). It is not just this, two children on every family is on the way. More of this kind will make your mind ache if you are patriotic enough.
Now lets hear the lawmakers’ explanation (again I encourage you to do your own fact-finding), as far as I know it is related to family planning. They say it is an act to minimize the Philippine population. Why? Are they tired of feeding us? It seems that they discourage us to marry and to have children. I just can't clearly explain the situation here but one thing is certain, they are trying to invade our personal rights. Truly undemocratic!
It is a human nature to find a lifetime partner and to have children. This human instinct is a law. We cannot change it just easily. And I was wondering why our government tries to suppress this nature. I understand that our country is getting too crowded, but I think this is not the true reason why we are in poverty. I began to wonder what are the other things behind this. My explanation are, they failed to do their job right, and they are too lazy to correct it, and now they are trying to transfer their responsibility to us. What a foolish act!
This is a life of being a Filipino. If our government (or part of our government) feel that their jobs are getting difficult to manage they stagnate and become lazy to seek for a better solutions and eventually passing their problem to the Filipino people. One example is by taxing us so heavily to replenish the dwindling national budget, instead of caging those corrupt officials and tax evaders. The government budget deficit is not our fault! What happened next? On so many occasions we protested but after a few months these protests vanish like a bubble, not really until the problem was solve. It looks like the reason is totally political. Our action is politically motivated, without passion, without determination and without nationalism.
Now, let’s tackle the kind of protest so popular in the Philippines. After the problem is heard, we are accustomed of gathering on the street, bringing friends, brothers, sisters, sister’s friends, and I guess it even includes our grandmothers. On the street, we recite long speeches, shouting unpleasant words, creating irritating sounds and other uncivilized acts, yet we succeeded nothing. At this event, we do more harm than good, creating chaos than correcting the faulty situation, and worsening the nation’s problem than solving it. In our words, we are blaming the president. Why? I think we are just ignorant about the real situation. It’s not easy to become a president. Just observe our situation today, it would take a decade or if we level it to our attitudes it would take a century to solve the nation’s problems. The president is not the only leader of our country, and the hardship we experienced right now is caused not only by our government, but we ourselves, the Filipino people. Why don’t we start to look around? On our own backyard, I guess we have clean up our mess first before going to the street to criticize whoever we think are the causes of our hardship. This is what I know, Filipinos are so lazy (like me) and they have a habit of blaming the other person for their failure. I think it is time to wake up and to change the Filipino mentality.
And if we really want to have a lasting changes and it is difficult to avoid any chaotic situation, why not arm ourselves? Maybe this will work. As what histories are proven, civil war is an effective way to transform a rotten government. We may not sure if the outcome would be beneficial to us, yet one thing is certain, we can achieve a lasting change.
